Brayden Pittman is an audiovisual artist based in Corner Brook,
Newfoundland. I was born in northwest Ontario by Lake Superior in 2005,
then raised in Bonavista Bay, Newfoundland.
My visual practice is focused on a combination of painting,
drawing and collage with a conceptual/critical background. I am
interested in exploring traditional means of image-making alongside the
Internet-based practices I've taught myself since childhood. The tension
between abstraction versus representation, or digital and
physical, is the core of my visual and musical work, while speaking to my position as a queer individual.
I am also an independent musician under the name bp iv, having released multiple EPs since 2020, and currently working on my debut album(s).
My creative focus is towards a homely contrast of digital and natural aesthetics with an emphasis on composition, atmospheric yet layered. I primarily pull from classic IDM, ambient & new age, trance music of the 90s & aughts, UK garage, trap music, deconstructed club and indietronica.
Alongside my independent practices, I frequently do commission work in graphic design, illustration, art writing, sound engineering & production. Feel free to contact me if my work in any specific medium interests you!
